How getting your head in the game before starting a task can make a MASSIVE difference to your performance.
An introduction to explain the topic (not known why you’re there, no WHY, why)
Have you ever just turned up at the gym and been super motivated and just focused on why you’re there? I’m betting you have. But I bet you’ve also had the days where it seems impossible to get yourself ‘into gear’ and everything seems like a struggle. This is the same in every area of life, somedays you love it and your performance is through the roof and other days, it seems like a never ending uphill struggle to get the bare minimum done. For years I thought this was coincidence or was just ‘how it is’ but I have since found out that this is not the case. There are many underlying factors as to why you can perform amazingly, enjoy yourself and get immersed in a task on some days, and then find it impossible on others. And we hope to shed light on some of these factors and we have put together a FREE workbook for you to download TODAY and start reaping the benefits.
“Don’t expect results just for turning up, you have to work hard, push your comfort zones and grow. If it isn’t hard…it’s probably not doing anything”
In the following section, I will briefly run through each part of the workbook and explain why they’re so important and how you can use it to your own advantage and start reaching levels you didn’t even realise were possible. Whether thats in a Maths lesson, boxing training, football training or even just for going to work. Being in the right mind state prior to starting makes all the difference.
What you love
In the first box, you list all the reasons you have for loving the task that you’re doing (for the gym, I put how it makes me feel great about myself & how much of a better mood I am when I’m regularly working out.)
By doing this, you re-program your brain to associate positives (things you love) to the task and if you view this workbook each time you do the task, before you know it, your brain will associate massive pleasure to things it formerly viewed as pain (you now live for the burn in your workout instead of avoiding it at all costs) and once this is done, you will find it much easier to get fired up and excited about whatever it is you’re trying to improve your performance at.
Here is what I consider the most important aspect to the amount of success you attain in your life - the ability to get yourself into the best possible mind state for the situation, even when you feel like giving it a miss, whether this is the mindset of motivated, confident, excited or even curious to learn as much as possible. What people don’t understand about the mindset is that it controls a large amounts of your conscious AND subconscious decision making; and it can be changed in seconds if you know the right tools.
If you’re focusing on how much getting punched at boxing or doing that last set of deadlifts hurts, then I'm guessing that you’re motivation levels are going to be MUCH lower than if you were focusing on the end goal, how much you enjoy pushing your comfort zones and giving a few seconds to think back on how far you’ve came.
You are as motivated as you choose to be. Take the route of growth and improvement or the route of easy and not challenging, it’s your choice.
Pleasure/Benefits of giving it 100%
The benefits of going all out in whatever you do, is that you create a (hopefully) lifetime long habit of giving 100% and doing the best you can. Start doing this wherever you can and be conscious of it during your
day-to-day life and watch how the world starts reacting to you differently once you do so. You can't expect 100% of the results or the payment if you're only giving 50% all the time. All growth begins when you start stepping, jumping and flying out of your comfort zone, so you will never get any ‘real’ results by training/working/performing half heartedly. Our goal is to keep pushing out limits until we are eventually limitless. You might surprise yourself with what you are capable of if you give yourself a chance.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CAN GENUINELY SAY YOU GAVE 100% EFFORT WITH SOMETHING?
Similarly to the previous section, we are what we repeatedly do, so we can build up a legacy by repeatedly giving it our best shot with everything we do and pushing our limits…or we can join the huge and ever growing list of people who let their dreams and goals fade away into an average life full of averageness. It starts off small, you decide to not give it your best 1 session, it then comes to the next session, it is going to be much easier to just pussy out and not give it your best, because you did the same last session. You only have to do this so many times until it becomes a habit, then it becomes a part of your identity, then it starts spreading into other areas of your life. You’re taking the ‘easy’ path whilst you’re at work, you’re not giving 100% of yourself in relationships and all of a sudden, problems start springing out of no where and before you know it, your life has taken over and you’re drowning in the pool of boredom and mediocrity. Earning your average wage, doing your average job, with your less than average body, spending time with your average friends doing average things at the weekend until it’s Monday again, and you’re repeating the cycle, never doing anything to try and elevate yourself to the next level.
Long Term Goal
It is super important to have a specific long term goal defined, as this will give you the ‘Why’ whenever things get challenging, also, you are a lot more likely to reach your goal if you actually know what the goal is (surprise surprise).
The bigger and more exciting you make this goal, the more it will fuel you on your path to excellence and abundance.
How it benefits long term goal
Once again, it comes back to having a WHY. If you have the goal of becoming champion boxer of the world, then you could have that giving 100% in sessions gives you much more leverage on reaching your goal. If you want to be comfortable with your top off on the beach when Summer comes around, then associate going to the gym with making progress towards your goal, instead of just associating the gym with the feelings of failure, no motivation and a massive waste of time. The more consistently you use this workbook, the stronger the effects become because each time you view it, it conditions your brain a little bit more than the last time. Condition your brain to think something amazing enough times and then nobody can talk badly about your holy activity. (Have you ever tried saying bad things about chocolate to a women? Obviously you haven’t as you’re still here reading this)
If used properly, this FREE resource could become a massive source of support for you, and becoming conscious of the pain and pleasure associations will benefit you more than you even imagined possible as you will start to notice your predisposition to certain activities before you even start. If there is something your dreading in your life, is there not something positive about it that you can try to focus on?
ENJOY YOURSELF. IF YOU’RE NOT ENJOYING YOURSELF, FIND A WAY TO ENJOY IT OR STOP DOING IT.
The reality is that nothing can make a change in your life if you’re not willing to take action and start doing what you know you need to do. The moment you start taking action in your own life and start taking control is when EVERYTHING begins to change.
What hobby, task or job in your own life are you currently going through the motions with instead of giving it your all?
How would your life change if you were to start seeing the results that you dream of so regularly?
Why not take action today and print off this FREE workbook?
