When the word limitless is mentioned, I instantly think of Bradley Cooper in Limitless, improving his life more than he ever thought possible. More money, more happiness, a constantly improving body on top of all the other amazing changes he was making. The film is based around a ‘magic pill’, and once he starts taking this pill, he starts doing the things that maximise his potential and lets him do, be and experience all the things that he wants…and it’s easy to just assume that this is just exaggerated for a film, but you can have that sudden mindset shift that Mr Limitless experiences and start living life on the next level too. I was really inspired when I saw this film and it has sent me on this mission of improving myself and the quality of my life, and this post is going to share my thoughts and ideas from my journey so far.
Realise how amazing you already are
Personal growth and improving yourself is coming more and more into the public eye, which is great for so many reasons, but it also forces people into feeling like they are not good enough already, which is a deadly trap to fall into. Make peace with where you are, count all your amazing strengths and unique qualities until you are at a point where you are proud/happy with yourself, and then you have the perfect foundations to create a limitless life. It’s so much easier to ‘improve’ if you already think you are amazing. It makes it difficult if you have a poor self image because you will be wanting to achieve goals and do these amazing things to ‘qualify’ yourself as good enough…even though you are already amazing.
If you don’t know where you are going, how will you know when you are there? If you want to become limitless, you have to define your own meaning of what limitless is, because it can vary from person to person. My personal idea of limitless might be different to yours, and chasing YOUR definition of limitless is going to be so much more rewarding than chasing my definition just because I said so. Do you want to be rich? In better shape? Have amazing friendships and relationships? Own an empire? Whatever it is, write a list of areas you want to keep improving in and then create an actionable plan for making these a reality.
“We are what we repeatedly do, so excellence is therefore a habit”
There are certain activities/daily habits that will optimise your performance no matter what you are doing, and these kinds of things were shown over and over again in the film Limitless, but the importance was overshadowed by the ‘magic pill’, similar to in real life. A routine that helps you think clearer, feel happier and be more productive in every area can only be called the winners routine…what are these activities I can hear you screaming. With a quick google search, you can find numerous articles and lists dedicated the morning, evening and everthing in-between routines, but the 3 main activities I suggest you start doing daily are
Improve 1% daily
We’ve already identified how amazing you are, and the aim now is to improve a little bit every single day because the smallest of improvements can make cause MASSIVE affects if done consistently. As humans, we are hooked on progress and it really makes us feel alive. Getting to the next level on a game, making progress on our diets and workouts, feeling like you are getting somewhere in life, so if we can combine this love of progression with actual real progression, then we are setting ourselves up for happiness. It doesn’t matter where you are in any area of life, you can improve by 1% right? Using the methods and tools available, will enable you to start making these 1% improvements in any area of life that you choose. Once you start making improving a habit, you will start to find it easier and easier whilst enjoying it more and more and once you hit the tipping point, personal growth and improving your life will be as easy as 1,2,3.
So there we go, my thoughts on becoming limitless and how WE are going to do it. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
