It's took me my whole life up until now to understand this, this is YOUR life and YOU define your own version of a happy and successful life. Yes, it's nice to make other people happy, and to get a pat on the back occasionally but it's time to start living on your own terms, doing what you want to do, striving to achieve what you want to achieve, and funnily enough, when you do this, you are more service to the world than when you are trying to run round like a headless chicken pleasing everyone else. Although we've been brainwashed to stay small and to live a specific life, we don't have to do so, we can choose whatever we want to do with our life and spend everyday taking action towards doing so. When I die, I want to be able to look back and know that i've created value for the world and to know that all my best ideas and creations are out into the world. This sounds quite daunting so I want you give you a roadmap to picking and working towards your purpose/success.
Whats important to you?
I'm talking deeper than money and materials. What excites you and makes you dream? It can be ANYTHING, but whatever it is, write it down and write all the reasons why it's important to you and all the benefits that will be yours if you start working towards it. By doing this, it slowly programs your brain to associate pleasure to your success, and also to link all the benefits to it as well, because this will increase your motivation, how much you think about it as well as many other things you don't even have conscious control over. When you heard people say things like “it's all in the mind”, they really weren't lying, put more time into understanding your brain and it will work wonders for the rest of your life. Your brain is like a super advanced computer, until you know the ins and outs and how it works, you're useless: but then once you start to gain understanding, you realise how potential there is and how many different things you can do. Learn about motivation, self image, self love and whatever else is going to help you live a rich and fulfilled life.
If you're happy with your life, your successful
You could have all the money in the world and be happy, or unhappy. You can have absolutely no money and be happy, or unhappy. No matter what you do in your life, you'll always have the choice to be happy or unhappy, and this choice comes down to what your focusing on. I would say that if you spend the majority of everyday happy, then no matter what your standard of life is, you're successful in the sense of your quality of life is high. Think of someone on Wall Street for example, they're earning BIG money, but they spend so much of their life super stressed out and worrying about pleasing the person above them, personally, no matter how much money I was earning, this would be hell for me. I'd much rather be earning significantly less but waking up with a smile on my face and enjoying my day. I'm not saying being rich or poor makes you sad or happy, I'm saying your quality of life and your happiness should always be prioritised. Theres more to life than work.
It's only real success if it's on your terms
If you do things just to make other people happy, or to get acceptance off've somebody, there is only so long you will last until you're in a real mess and hating your life. Never make a big life decision based off've anything apart from your own feelings and opinions. If you have passions of your own but your parents or other people around you are encouraging you to take 'the safe option' then do NOT listen to them, its a trap. Everybody is going for safety and security and the 'easy' option which makes it an over populated lane and the competition is massive. Choosing what you love to do, sets you up with an advantage & by creating 'your own lane', you make sure there is less 'traffic'. You can fail at doing something you hate, so why not try doing something you love.
Life is short – take charge and stop running around in a circle.
Life is way to short to either not be doing anything or doing something that you hate. Decide what you want to do with your life, and start doing it. If I would have taken action when I first had my dreams, I would be miles ahead of where I am now, but I didn't, I let other peoples suggestions and self-doubt run my life and I was in a mess, working a dead job that I hated. As soon as I made the decision to do something I love, obstacles started moving out of my way and decisions and ideas became so clear to me. I'll keep taking action and consistently improving until I'm where I want to be. Living the dream life & helping as many others create their dream life too.
I want you to live a happy and fulfilled life, and hopefully so do the people around you, but the people around you almost definitely want safety and security for you. But safety and security is usually safe and secure...because it's boring and has never seen excitement in it's life. Start deciding what would be a life 'fully lived' for you and start living that life. Theres more to life than working 9-5 and paying bills. Honestly, much more. Heres to YOUR success.
